Lets get all the legalities set aside...
PCB Tutor is released under the SHAREWARE concept. You are allowed a reasonable
evaluation period of 30 days. After that time you are asked to register
this program or delete it. See the Registration portion of this documentation.
Although this program has undergone extensive testing I make no guarantee that
this program will do anything except take up about 200,000+ bytes of hard drive
space :-) I am not responsibile for any damages incurred while using this
program. The source code is available (to registered users - upon request)
and can be viewed to assure you that there are NO! backdoors or harmful code
of any kind!
Please evaluate this program fully BEFORE registering it. No warranties of
any kind are issued or implied with this program and no refunds of any
kind will be issued. So, please...evaluate it FULLY before registering it.

│ PROGRAM FEATURES │
└──────────────────┘
I created the PCB Tutorial out of a need to give 'NEWBIE' callers a source
of information on using PCBoard without having to use a ton of bulletins that
basically contained cybergargon and still had the caller confused.
I have spent the past 2 months (on and off) creating this program and have
beta tested it on a couple systems throughout the country to get the bugs
out and to get an idea of what was needed to enhance the program.
Keep in mind that this program is far from completed. What I mean by completed
is that as you know there a ton of features within PCBoard and more are being
added all the time. So, in reality this program will never be finished until
Clark Dev. stops upgrading PCBoard :-)
All new features added to Pcboard will also be added to this program.
And then theres the Internet, Usenet, FidoNet, and...and...
I think you get the point <g>.
At this point the program contains tutorial sections on the following:
° PCBoard User Commands
° Internet (E-Mail)
° Usenet NewsGroups
° FIDOnet
° Logging onto your PCBoard BBS
° Special BBS specific commands (SysOp configurable)
° And extensive program "HELP"
Features that will be added...
° Internet FTP, Internet SLIP plus any added features updated by
Clark Development or any other suggestions or ideas that might crop up <g>.

│ PROGRAM SETUP │
└───────────────┘
To set up PCB TUTOR copy all included files into a directory. I will use
C:\PCB\PPL\TUTOR\TUTOR.PPE for example
o Go to your PCBoard directory
o Run PCBSETUP
o Type B (File Locations)
o Type B (Configuration Files)
o Arrow Down to CMD.LST then press F2 to edit. It looks like this:
╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗
║ CMD.LST Editor ║
║ ║
║ Charges Per PPE/MNU File Specification -or- ║
║ Command Sec Minute Use Keystroke Substitution ║
║ ══════════════ ═══ ═════════════════ ═════════════════════════════════ ║
║ 1) TUTOR 10 0 0 C:\PCB\PPL\TUTOR\TUTOR.PPE ║
╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
o Be sure and edit your BRDM file so that people know the program is there.

A Word about De-Compiling this program:
First off this program is Copyrighted and any attempt to de-compile and then
use this program modified is a copyright infrigment.
I have never released a program with a backdoor or any type of malicious code
in it.
The source code is available to registered SysOps upon request.
I have no problem with a SysOp using a de-compiler to check the code and
then using the original (unmodified) version on his or her system.
┌──────────────────┐
│ POSSIBLE ERRORS │
└──────────────────┘
So far the only error reported has been a "SCRIPT MEMORY - BUFFERS" error
that seemed to pop up under network software also using DESQview.
And I have received only 2 reports of this error.
Hopefully with the release of v1.50 this will no longer exist.
If however, you expierence this problem try
Increasing your systems buffers.
If you come across any errors please report them As SOON as possible. And
please be specific when explaining the problem. If you get any type of coded
errors report the code and most importantly what type of system your running
under (i.e. DESQview, Novell, OS/2, DOS etc...)
┌────────────────┐
│ BETA TESTERS │
└────────────────┘
Equinox Software is currently looking for PCBoard BBS's to BETA TEST
new programs being developed. It costs nothing and you are eligible for
discounted registration rates on the software you BETA TEST. If you are
interested call The Equinox BBS at (312) 254-3413, register, and leave a
[C]omment to the SysOp.
As a BETA TESTER you are required to run the program for 30 days (it will
appear registered for those days) and the only thing you are required to do
is report any problems, suggestions or comments.
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ A personal comment about one of Equinox Software's programs │
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
It seems that I have made a big mistake...And I want to take this opportunity
to explain what happened and to apologize.
In April of this year I released a program called the ENTER PROMPT ENHANCER.
Well, about a month prior to releasing it I was chatting with a SysOp who
called my board and we were discussing ppe's we were writing. He mentioned
the fact he had a program he had just finished and asked if I would mind
testing it out. I accepted. After evaluating it I offered to buy the program
in order to release it and generate some additonal income for my bbs system and
to get Equinox Software established in the SysOp community.
Well, I noticed about a week ago that another ppe writer had released an
indentical version with the code changed because his programs were screwing
up because of the great amount of memory it needed and never released.
Then I call SALT AIR a couple days ago to check out the PPL programming
conference only to find my name splattered in messages accusing me of stealing
the program. Especially from ANDY KAHN who I take it was the original author.
The point being is that I apologize to ANDY KAHN for being naive and taking
this SysOps word that he had in fact produced this program. I have over 400+
ppe programs online and this was one that I had never seen. Not even anything
close to it so, there was no reason not to think he had not written it.
I called this SysOps board and asked for an explaination and guess what?
I received no reply and was locked out!
As any SysOp knows the last thing anyone of us needs, is to be know as a
thief...Our name and reputation are all have. And I did not start Equinox
Software with the intention of stealing anyones work and then placing my name
on it. I might be naive in this case but not crazy! <g>.
Of the 4 programs released by me. This was the only one not written by
me personally. And it will be the last.
